Box lines add services

APL is launching a China southeast Asia Express service to boost its intra-Asia shortsea network. The new service will link Taiwan with Subic Bay, Batangas, General Santos and Davao.

The port rotation will be: Hong Kong - Chiwan – Kaohsiung- Subic Bay - Batangas - General Santos - Davao - Hong Kong.

The launch will trigger changes to the China Southeast Asia Service 3 (CS3). All inbound cargoes to Subic bay will be loaded on CSX instead.

The CS3 port rotation will be Hong Kong - Chiwan -Kaohsiung - Cebu - Cagayan - Subic Bay - Kaohsiung – Hong Kong.

Maersk meanwhile has altered its Safair service, with immediate effect. The service will now include an export call at Durban. The new rotation will be Kobe – Nagoya – Yokohama – Ningbo – Shanghai - Hong Kong – Shekou - Tanjung Pelepas - Port Louis – Durban - Port Elizabeth – Durban – Tanjung-Pelepas - Hong Kong – Shanghai – Kobe.

The line said the change would give it more “flexibility on the import call into Durban with the aim of further improving our reliability as well as shortening our Port Elizabeth import transit time with approximately four days.

“We do not expect any significant change to our Durban import transit time,” it added. “On the export side this change will vastly improve our Durban export product and cut transit times by almost seven days for most key Asian ports."
